Tickets (MTS) screen

A Wagtail-served page has been designed for public in-house screen/kiosk use, available at: https://www.tate.org.uk/admin/mts-screen

The page can display event details as provided by Tessitura. When doing so, the event details are fetched continuously (at a set frequency), with the status of event ticket sales in the 'slides', updated dynamically as required.

Configuration

The following optional configuration settings are available (via URL key-value pairs).

Note, the first occurrence of a key-value pair in a URL must be prefixed with a question mark ( ? ) with subsequent pairs separated by ampersands ( & ).

Example: https://www.tate.org.uk?key1=some value&key2=some other value&example_key=you get the idea

Site

Indicates the Tate site for which event details will be fetched and displayed. Possible values are: "T%" (indicates all sites), "TB", "TM", "TL", "TSI" or "none" (for when only 'promos' should appear)

Example: https://www.tate.org.uk/admin/mts-screen?site=TB

Note, if no site value is present, "T%" (all sites) is used by default.

Promo

Specifies messaging to be used for a promotional 'slide', shown ahead of any event slides. Up to 5 promo slides can be specified so the promo 'key' should be appended accordingly (see below).

Example: https://www.tate.org.uk/admin/mts-screen?promo1=This is a promotional message&promo2=This is another

Messaging can include the following characters: ? ! £ ' , .

Two further characters are permitted for formatting purposes only (i.e not displayed on screen)

An asterisk, *, can be used to split the messaging into an upper and lower section. Text in the upper section (before the asterisk) appears in upper-case and in a relatively large font size, so is best suited to a shorter line (i.e a headline), with the lower section (after the asterisk) appearing in the case specified at a smaller size, best suited for more detailed text.

Example: https://www.tate.org.uk/admin/mts-screen?promo1=Hello everybody!*Please buy tickets for the exciting new exhibition opening today&promo2=This is some other promo

Note, any occurrences of an asterisk beyond the first will be disregarded.

An underscore, _ can be used to indicate a line break. This can be used any number of times in messaging, likewise in text split into upper and lower sections.

Example: http://localhost:8000/admin/mts-screen?site=TB&promo1=help support tate*Include a donation with your ticket,_if you can consent to Gift Aid we can claim_an extra 25p for every £1 at no extra cost to you

Speed

Enables control over the duration of each slide appearing. The default value is 5 (i.e each slide appearing for 5 seconds)

Example: https://www.tate.org.uk/admin/mts-screen?promo1=This is a promo&speed=10

Note, any speed value provided must be an integer and will include the half second animation of a slide's transition onto the screen.

Refresh rate

Indicates the frequency at which the page fetches Tessitura-derived event data (unless a 'site' value of 'none' has been used). The default is 20 (i.e fetch data every 20 seconds)

Example: https://www.tate.org.uk/admin/mts-screen?promo1=This is a promo&refresh_time=5
